Where I've Been Born and raised in Luzerne County, I am a graduate of as well as a teacher in the Crestwood School District. I left Mountaintop to attend Penn State in State College, PA, where I majored in Wildlife and Fisheries and Park Management. After college, I moved to Lancaster County, where my wife is from, and briefly worked in environmental engineering. Before too long, I decided to attend graduate school to earn a degree in technology education. I finished the tech ed program at Millersville University and was excited to return to Mountaintop when both my wife and I were hired to teach at Crestwood.
My Life as an Educator I have been teaching at Crestwood High School for nine years, and I teach eighth through twelfth grades. To my high school students, I am responsible for teaching woodworking skills. These students learn valuable life skills that they will take with them after graduating and use for the rest of their lives. Some of the projects we do include: shaker style wall clocks, shelves, grandfather clocks and basic furniture. I am also responsible for teaching the eighth grade students an introduction to technology education. In this class we touch on the basics of electricity, pneumatics, measurement and robotics. The class is designed to give students a brief introduction on what the high school program has to offer. It allows the students to decide whether or not they want to pursue the pre-engineering classes in the high school. My favorite subject to teach is wood shop; I enjoy showing students how to safely run power tools and also how to correctly use wood working processes to construct a nicely built project.
When I'm Not Working... When I am not in school I enjoy outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing and spending time at home with my family. My seven year old daughter seems to have a lot of interest in the outdoors, so I have been spending time with her fishing on our boat and teaching her woodsman-ship skills, which include shooting, animal identification, etc..
